2020/21 saw Steven Gerrard’s Rangers bring Celtic’s nine-year reign over Scottish football to a close. Thus, in the summer, we saw a major reshuffle ensue at Celtic Park as Ange Postecoglou was drafted in as manཧager following Neil Lennon’s exit in February. On the transfer front, stars including Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer were sold to Premier League outfits Crystal Palace and Brentford respectively for healthy fees. Olivier Ntcham and Jack Hendry moved to the EFL Championship, while long-time captain Scott Brown made the switch to Aberdeen. It’s a new era at Celtic with 13 fresh faces arriving in the summer, including Benfica winger Jota and Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan. Vissel Kobe’s Kyogo Furuhashi was the club’s most expensive acquisition of the season (£4.86m).

Rangers, meanwhile, were quieter in the summer after Gerrard guided them to the title. The club were able to retain the core group of players that thrust them to last season’s crown, while new additions were brought in to bolster the squad. Juninho Bacuna was signed 🐟from Huddersfield Town, while John Lundstram joined from Sheffield United on a free transfer. However, the Gers are now being led into battle by former player Giovanni van Bronckhorst 🦩after Gerrard switched Ibrox for Villa Park in November.

The January transfer window will be an interesting one with a new manager at the helm. However, the Dutchman’s priority could be fending off interest for the likes of Glen Camara, Nathan Patterson and Joe Iribo. The future of defender Conor Goldson is also in doubt, with his contract expiring in the summer. In ter🌺ms of incomings, Rangers aren’t expected to be active unless funds are raised through player sales. They are keen on Tottenham youngster Dilan Markanday, however, with Paris Saint-Germain starlet Xavi Simons an optimistic loan target.

Alfredo Morelos’ future is one marketed by some bookmakers. The bullish forward came close to leaving Rangers in the summer with links to one of Europe’s top-five leagues continuing 💞into the winter. Gerrard’s Astཧon Villa are the favourites for Morelos’ signature in January, with Ligue 1 outfits Lyon and Lille also options.

Celtic are hoping to tie down loan star Jota for the long🐻-haul, with the player’s £6.5m permanent buyout clause ready to be triggered by the Glaswegian club.

The Japanese revolution is set to continue at Celtic Park following the arrival of Furuhashi in the summer. Celtic are targeting Jꦬ-League trio Reo Hatate, Daizen Haeda and Yosuke Ideguchi, with Postecoglou keen to bolster his squad this winter. The new Celtic boss is using his 🎶experience of the J-League to smartly exploit the Far Eastern talent pool.

Scottish Premiership transfer betting certainly isn’t the most popular of options for bettors considering the limited number of markets typically available – even during the transfer windows. That being said, the transfer market is just as imperative in shapi🥂ng the division as any other.

The vast majority of transfer talk in Scotland is dominated by Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers, with the former particularly revered for buying, developing and offloading serious talent. Me♕anwhile,  Alfredo Morelos’ future is one that might intrigue punters in January.

Despite the limited coverage, there’s certainly an opportunity for b🍒ettors to master the transfer market and make some serious profit.

We've listed belo෴w our top three tips ♒for betting on the Scottish Premiership transfer market:

1. Hone in on Celtic & Rangers

Scotland’s two premier clubs, Celtic and Rangers, are always subject to pl⛎enty of transfer talk, and should bookmakers offer any transfer-rela💦ted Scottish Premiership markets, you can bet your bottom dollar that one of these two clubs are involved.

Thus, it’s imܫportant you focus your attention on the Old Firm rivals when it comes to conjuring up a betting strategy. is very useful as they provide excellent transfer round-ups from tꦜhe Scottish Premiership, while various Celtic and Rangers news accounts are accessible on Twitter. These accounts direct all their energy into anything Celtic/Rangers-related with news from every source likely to be covered. Some of these accounts – check the ones with the most followers – are worthy of a follow.

Information regarding the transfer news from the rest of the Scottish Premiership might be handy, but it’s very unlikely that bookmakers will provide ma🐠rkets for the lower-key deals that take place in Scotland. Celtic and Rangers transfers will be prioritised, meaning you shoul♔d hone in on these two clubs.

2. Find the Best Odds

Bookmakers take no time in adjusting odds in accordance with the latest transfer gossip. As a result, it’s imperative that you keep on top of the news by frequently accessing your most trustworthy sources for Scottish Premiership transfer news. This will give you the best chance of beating the 💞bookmakers and maximising your profit.

Then🌟, you must find the right bookmaker which, admittedly, is difficult when it comes to Scottish Premiership transfer betting. Coverage is limited outside of the ꦦtransfer windows, and there’s isn’t a stark upsurge when the windows open either. It depends on how active Celtic and Rangers are, as well as the profile of players they’re targeting/selling.

Nevertheless, you might not have the luxury to pick and choose what bookmaker you use. Still, there are betting sites that are offering a particular Scottish Premiership transfer market – Alfredo Morelos’ next club, for example – leaving you to find the bookmaker that offers the best odds. A use♏ful way to find this out is by utilising ‘Oddschecꦐker’ to compare different bookmakers.

3. Take Advantage of the Limited Markets Available

As we’ve already noted, your options when it comes to betting on Scottish Premiership are extremely limited. As a result, there isn’t the array of markets that you might find with more prominent tran😼sfer sagas or popular players.

Currently, there are markets for Rangers stars Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos. However, you can o🔥nly bet on their club after the January tran🔴sfer window.

There are no other available options for punters. Having said that, while you are restricted to what you can bet on, the paradox of choice is avoided. There’s less to𓂃 know and more to master.

Transfer betting is growing in popularity, although it’s safe to say that Scottish Premiership transfers are unlikely to be at the forefront of a punter’s mind. Typically, the markets offered by bookmakers concentrate on two clubs, and even those are scarce. Nevertheless, should you hone in on both Celtic and Rangers transfer news, there’s an opportunity for profit to be made should the requisite markets manifest during the transfer wind✤ows.

It’s different for every bookmak༒er, but typically, you can bet on a player’s next permanent club or what club that player will be at after the upc🎃oming transfer window.

The upcoming January transfer ✨window opens on January 1 and closes on 31🌼 January in Scotland.

At the moment, Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is included in transf🐼er specials b🎀etting markets.

Of course you can. There are a variety of manager-related markets which you can learn a little more about in our manager betting guide. However, bookmakers will likely only offer Celtic and 𝔍Rangers managerial markets. Both clubs have appointed new managers in 2021.

Celtic le💎ft-back Kieran Tierney became the most expensive export in Scottish Premiership history when he joined Aౠrsenal in 2020 for a £24.3m fee.
