The Oaks race goes off over a distance of 1 mile, 4 furlongs and 6 yards over the Epsom Downs, which is in the English county of Surrey. It is considered by many to be one of the most challenging flat racing tracks on the planet, containing the most famous bend ꦐin racing, Tattenham Corner. For those interested in draw bias, this isn’t generally agreed to be much of an influence; that said, in recent history, the low numbers have not provided winners here, and high numbers have fared better.

The Oaks is one of the five classics of UK horse racing and the third to be held during the season. These races, which are all flat, are, in chronological order, the 2,000 Guineas, the 1,000 Guineas, The Derby, The Oaks and the St Leger, which is the oldest of these races. The Epsom Oaks is also considered to ﷽be the middle leg of the Fillies' Triple Crown, taking place, as it does, after the 1,000 Guineas which runs at Newmarket in May and September’s St Leger Stakes at Doncaster.

⛦ The Epsom Oaks Stakes is one of the most famous races across the globe, and it takes place on one of the most renowned racecourses in the sporting world. The latter also includes one of the ✨most well-known turns in racing: Tattenham Corner. The Oaks is an action-packed, fast and flat-run thriller that all bettors love, and for plenty of good reasons too.

Outright Winner

If there is a filly that you think is destined to put her name down in the record books or a horse that you believe, with a little bit of luck, might be the next winner of The Oaks, then this is the bet for you. This is a nice, uncomplicated straightforward bet on the winning horse. Just add the horse that you believe will win to your betting slip, decide on your stake and place the bet. Note: the only way you will turn a profit on this bet is if your horse comes first.

Each-Way

Another idea is to back your horse each-way. This is a 2-in-1 bet that allows one portion of your stake to back the winner in an outright bet as described above, while the second portion of the bet will go towards a place. This way, your horse can finish in the top few places and you still collect a payout. Traditionally, on a race like the Oaks, this means a top 3 finish paid at a 1/5th of the odds; however, there may very weꦐll be some bookmakers offering better terms than this as the race draws closer, so keep your ey🌺es out for value.

Forecast Bet

A forecast bet placed on The Oaks is a bet where you select the two horses that you believe will finish first and second in the contest. Should the race play out as you hope it does and💙 your picks finish in the o♔rder you predicted they would, then you win.

Tricast Bet

A tricast bet is very similar to the forecast above but, as you will likely have guessed, this bet stretches further to include a third horse. Once again, the horses that you have selected must all finish in the top 3 positions in the exact order that you entered them on your betting slip in order to win this bet. Obviously, due to the precision required to win, this bet can pay high amounts a lot of the time.

The English town of Epsom become famous after mineral-rich water (later to become known as Epsom Salts) was discovered in the area in 1618. This discovery led to the development of a tourist trade and the subsequent expansion of a spa town. Soon, after royal visitations became a regular occurrence, racing began to thrive in the area.

Just east of Epsom, there existed an estate which had been leased to the 12th Earl of Derby during the 18th century. This estate was called The Oaks, and gives its name to the grade one race that is held there today. It is the sister event of the Derby, which also takes its name from the earl. It was during a party at The Oaks estate in 1778 that the earl and 🀅his guests came up with the idea for the race, which was staged for the first time one year later,🔯 and a year prior to the inaugural running of the Derby Stakes.

The first ever winner of The Oaks was a horse called Bridget, and was unsurprisingly owned by Lord Derby. Over the years, the Oaks has grown into one of Britain's leading events for three-year-old female horses, and is today classed as one of the classics of English horse racing along with the Derby, the 1000 Guineas, 2000 Guineas and the St Leger. In 2014, the race paid tribute to a legend of British racing, Sir Henry Cecil, who died a year earlier by incorporating his name in its title. Between 1985 and 2007, Cecil had trained eight Oaks winners. Go and check also the best betting offers Cheltenham.

Big sports fan specialising in football. Experienced the lows of Vlad Chiriches and Tim Sherwood as a Spurs fan along with the more recಞent ‘success’ under Pochettino. My following of the New England Patriots since 2012 somewhat makes up for the lack of silverware produced by🅷 Spurs in my lifetime.
